Create Your Own Job is the Career Management Practice side of
Thompson Associates.
Thompson Associates is an Executive Search Firm founded and
managed by
Dennis Thompson. The career management
practice of our business grew out of a desire to better serve
both our search firm clients with their outplacement needs and
our candidate base with their individual career needs. The
term create your own job was coined by one of our early
workshop participants when he first realized he could control
his own destiny and not be at the mercy of the economy, his
company or the traditional job hunting system.
“I get it” he said. “It
doesn’t matter if my company’s in trouble or not, or what’s
going on with the economy. If I consistently follow this
process I can create my own job whenever I want!”
He and many others have
proven him right time and again. Over time and hundreds (maybe
thousands) of mistakes to date, we have learned exactly what works
and what doesn’t in creating multiple opportunities for job
seekers. The techniques and strategies have been tested,
refined and mastered for each piece of the job search puzzle.
We have observed that not everyone will put in the work to
consistently follow the process, but the process will
consistently work for those that do.
The basic strategy is
simple: Create opportunities in the “HIDDEN JOB MARKET” where
over 80% of all jobs are created, but are never advertised to
the general public.
